As we quickly approach the new year, more and more contests are popping up. Some are to win VIP packages at huge NYE parties and some to win music and merch. This one is different, it’s life changing and it’s a real chance to make your dream come true.

Next Generation DJ (NGDJ) teamed up with Pioneer, Beatport, DJ Mag, and Let’s Mix to put out this contest that is just too incredible to pass on. NGDJ is looking for the next superstar DJ, one that will stand out from all the rest, the one that’ll have that little extra something.

To win, DJs will have to demonstrate their skills by uploading a promoting on the new mixing and social networking platform www.letsmix.com as well as prove they have the entrepreneurial aptitude required to make it big in the world of dance music.

Entrants will need to create a profile on www.letsmix.com, upload their mix, and promote their page as well as they possibly can in order to get the most votes to advance to the next round. Entrants that will advance to the next round will have to show off their DJ skills and be judged by a panel of industry heavyweights.

Here’s all of the information you need to get your foot in the door, or your hands on the decks in front of thousands of fans:

When: December 15th – February 20th

Competition Stage 1: December 15th 2009 – January 31st 2010

Competition Stage 2: February 1st – February 20th 2010

How: Join the contest. Submit a mix.

Upload mix in MP3 format and add track listing

Download Let’s Mix free software, create a mix and upload

To advance in the contest:

Stage 1: December 15th – January 31st

Task 1: Promote your mix as widely as possible (using websites, blogs, social networking, email etc) to secure a minimum of 200 votes.

Task 2: Secure the highest average score for your mix possible (1.0 – 5.0)

Stage 2: February 1st – February 20th 2010

Compete amongst the NGDJ top 100 finalists with a new theme mix (theme/rules release February 1st)
