Serato + Ableton = Serable (?)
“Serato and Ableton are happy to announce a partnership, which will pave the way for the future of Digital DJing.” This is the first line in the official announcement by Serato, I trust it to be 100% correct as both of the companies are practical solutions innovators and developers, both are controlling the DVS and live production market, each in their own category. Both are already industry standard and you can find a SSL1 or a computer which runs Ableton Live in almos any big respectable club, and getting huge support from both hip-hop and electronica world all at the same time.
Imagine a tool that combines Serato’s abbilities of vinyl emulation and music library control, yet at the same time it will incorporate Ableton’s tools for production, on-the-fly remixing and beat creation,
“Ableton and Serato take different approaches to modern musical performance [...] But both companies live by the philosophy that software should be straightforward,
easy to use, and most importantly, reliable and stable onstage and in the studio. Ableton has never had
an answer for the DJ who wants vinyl control, and rather than try to emulate what Serato do so well, we simply make sure that our products work well together.â€
Gerhard Behles, Ableton CEO.
Expect some magic to come out of this collaboration.
