Nocturnality CoverFeatured DJ Set for this week is Nocturnality by DJ Sion Prys form Nottingham, England.
This is an awesome progressive deep house set I have heard while browsing the net. I couldn’t stop playing it since I heard it for the first time.
DJ Sion, tell us about yourself.
Basically I’m a student at Nottingham university heading into my 3rd year. I’m originally from Cardiff and started DJing a year and a half ago.
How did you get to DJing?
I started off listening to trance years ago and then indulged deeper into more progressive house and techno after exploring the global underground series
What gear do you use?
I use cdjs and download my music from Beatport, however in recent months I bought a Technics 1210 and have now started to build a vinyl collection too with the aid of my student loan.
Where do you play your music?
I started playing out the last academic year doing various house parties etc in Nottingham. I then started to play out a little more regularly at bars in the town and Im hoping that this year will give me further opportunities to play at different club locations in the city.
Define your style.
I don’t like to stick to one particular sub genre as I appreciate so many different ones depending on the mood I’m in etc. I really enjoy my deep house with labels like Buzzin’ Fly and Compost, yet I also love techno and minimal sounds on the other end of the spectrum, with progressive and tech house in between. I try to incorporate a mix of all these sounds in my mixes, and I try to make sure that my mixes progress smoothly with long blends. My favorite artists include Desyn Masiello, Hernan Cattaneo, Ben Watt and Danny Howells.
